New join at BAT GSD

It’s been 4 days at new office. Yes, I have just joinned BAT GSD. Personally, I thought that, oh ya, I have chance to start dieting to reduce the FATS gainned during the past 2 weeks for the farewell lunches.  Oh no, I found that I was wrong. For the first 4 days, I have 2-hour lunch!  Of cos boss paid for the bills then. I can’t imagine that if I keep doing this. I would be out of shape!

Totally a diffrent environment. At GSD, the culture appreciates anyone that do work.  For a young company, seniority earns low credit.  As any IT company, staff turnover is high, as usual.  In terms of maturity of the process and procedure, it’s just a small gap to bridge to a long-establidhed company.  Of cause, there is always space of improvement.  To list a few, delegation and focus of responsibility, redefine the value of support team, simplify and automated processes, quality of helpdesk personel.

I believe that healthy comparison is positive to organisation.  For a simple comparison, UOB IT processes are neat, focus of task is clear and direct, helpdesk is quality and able to provide first level support, support team focus merely on application efficiency support, schedule jobs are all properly scheduled, process is automated and simple.

That’s opinion of someone that have worked for both CIO of the year 2007.  Every place has it’s good and bad.  In terms of stability, GSD is on the way for it’s maturity as compare to UOBM. In terms of environment, GSD is the best place for me !! :D

It’s fun and lively always.  It’s laugher everywhere.  People here look for joy at work which the typical call it “WORK HARD PLAY HARD” DIE HARD 2? :D

I enjoy sitting there with the colleagues. I enjoy being with them. When the clock clicks at 6pm, ops, that’s for the day. I would have to wait for another next-fun-day.

  4. Dear Christene,

My name is Matthieu Lux, I am a french Computer Scientist holder of a Master’s degree of the university of Paris-Sud and about to graduate from a second Master’s degree in Information Systems Project Management from the institute of Business Administration of French Brittany and at the Georgia State University in Atlanta, USA within an MBA exchange semester.

Can you please give me some tips about how to apply for a position at GSD? Do you know anyone who would me interested in my profile? I have work experiences in Germany, Japan and Cambodia where I worked as a junior Business Intelligence Consultant. Is there any chance you might transfer my application to a hiring manager?

Thank you very much in advance and please do not hesitate to contact me under lux.matthieu(at)gmail.com.

Best regards and I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon.
