Joomla 1.5 SEF URL

Posted in Uncategorized on April 27, 2009 by christene222

Was trying to set the URL in my joomla 1.5 to be SEF (Search Engine Friendly) URL but by only turning the SEF button on in the configuration page doesn’t seem to do the job perfect. Looked around on the net for a solution. Somesite did suggest to change the htaccess file name to exclude the .txt extension but it doesn’t solve the problem.

Finally, I found this -> http://docs.joomla.org/SEF_URLs_in_Joomla!_1.5

I did as per the step 2 suggested and wow, perfect!.  I did has some problem modifying the file but at the end, I managed to change the parameter and it gives me what it should be doing finally.

[Edit on 28/04/2009: I went to the warehouse sale yesterday and bought nothing. Probably such sale wasn't meant for everybody. Just heard from a colleague saying that, they were not going to take out new stock on Sunday, duh! Wasted my time and toll money.]

New financial scam warned by Bank Negara Malaysia

Posted in Uncategorized on April 19, 2009 by christene222

Notes: Article picked from UOB website.

Beware of Fraudulent SMS and Telephone Calls Requesting  Confirmation on Credit Card Transactions

Bank Negara Malaysia would like to caution members of the public to be vigilant when receiving any calls or SMS claiming that it is from Bank Negara Malaysia or any commercial banks.

The facts are:

  • There is no department called “Unit Kad Kredit Palsu” in Bank Negara Malaysia
  • 8659-XXXX is not a Bank Negara Malaysia telephone line
  • Bank Negara Malaysia will NEVER request for personal banking information through SMS or telephone calls.

Based on recent complaints received by Bank Negara Malaysia, there has been an increase in incidents of fraudsters making such calls and sending SMS to unknowing members of the public in order to fraudulently obtain their personal banking information, with the aim of siphoning monies from one’s account.

From Bank Negara Malaysia ’s investigations, the modus operandi of the scam is as follows:

  1. Victim receives SMS or telephone call: Requesting victim to confirm a credit card transaction for the purchase of goods or services purportedly charged to the victim’s credit card.
  2. When victim calls the telephone number provided in the SMS, the fraudsters identify themselves as agents of a commercial bank, and again, ask the victim to confirm whether the credit card transaction had taken place.
  3. When victim informs the fraudster that he has no such credit card or transaction, the fraudster will start to sound concerned and will advise victim to lodge a report with Bank Negara Malaysia’s “Unit Kad Kredit Palsu”, or with the commercial bank’s “credit card management department”. The fraudster will provide the victim with the telephone number for the “Unit Kad Kredit Palsu”.
  4. When victim calls the telephone number provided, they are greeted by a automated voice message which identifies the company as Bank Negara Malaysia, and the call will then be answered by someone claiming to be a Bank Negara Malaysia officer. This officer will request for information relating to the victim’s banking and credit card accounts under the pretense of lodging a complaint on behalf of the victim.
  5. The fraudsters now have sufficient information to illegally transfer funds out of the victim’s bank account.

Members of the public are reminded not to disclose their personal banking information to any unknown party without verification.

something new on my desk….The Olive Plaza Damas

Posted in 生活点滴 with tags on April 7, 2009 by christene222

hey, got a small book shelf on my desk to organise some books.  Have been buying so many books altough I do not read most of them.  So, the books keep growing more and more. In the new house, must have a library! Yeah! I am thinking the wall facing Bukit Jalil Stadium in the library room, to have a big glass from top to the floor. So that, I have a great natural light for all my books. But is it safe? As it would be at more than 20 floors. What is thunder strike the glass?

Well that’s later. Now see the small little book shelf on my desk.

See this? Haha. Still remember The Oliver Plaza Damas that I went during my birthday eve? Yea, I went there for dinner last Saturday.  This time, we had pizza and tenderloin. Well, compare to the lamb ribs, I would think the lamb ribs is so so much better.  If you are on diet, tenderloin is good cause it has no fat oil at all, pure meat.  Well, I love nice food, I want some fat with the meat. So I lamb ribs has better credit from me.

Fortnum & Mason

Posted in Travel, UK trip, 旅行 with tags on April 2, 2009 by christene222

After I finished the honey drink that brought from home, I put the Fortnum & Mason teaback into the La Gaurmet thermalwae and make myself a hot tea. I decided to share what I know about Fortnum’s here since it’s mid night shift and nothing much really in hand too.

I was introduced this brand/department store by Sara when we met in London last November.  She told me that it’s a famous brand with special royal connection in it’s history.  It was approaching Christmas 2009 and the store was decorated beautifully. Well, the glass wall was closed with some special secret within.  Oh yea, the store was located at Piccadilly, central London.  I visited the store 2 times, once with Sara and another with Hup.  Bought chocolate and tea leaf from there too.  If you happen to drop by, do remind me for a Fortnum’s tea ya.

So, what’s the history that Fortnum’s has with regards to royal family? For this, I got to ask Wikipedia.

“...During the Napoleonic Wars, the emporium supplied dried fruit, spices and other preserves to the British officers and during the Victorian era it was frequently called upon to provide food for prestigious Court functions. Queen Victoria even sent shipments of Fortnum and Mason’s concentrated beef tea to Florence Nightingale’s hospitals during the Crimean War...” from Wikipedia.

Well, besides the tea leaf, the other thing that I really love from Fortnum’s is the perfum.  It was ‘natural’.  Well, costly, of cause.

When I visited Fortnum’s for the first time with Sara, the glass door was covered.  The second time I went with Hup, the secret was revealed! See below, for the decoration in the glass wall.
